REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS

for prescriptions only

Many patients require regular medication for chronic or recurring conditions. Doctors aim to review these on a regular basis, but allow patients to request items without being seen.  Regularly prescribed items appear on a list on the right hand side of the prescription, and this re-order list can be used to obtain further prescriptions in future, by ticking the ones required.

Requests for a repeat of previously issued prescriptions as agreed with your doctor can be made in one of the following ways:

bullet

by handing in the re-order slips at reception, itemising those drugs required

bullet

by completing one of the request slips kept in reception

bullet

by fax (01252 370751) specifying the items clearly *

bullet

by EMAIL , following this link  to : prescriptions.milestone@nhs.net

* N.B  To make it clear what is required, you must indicate your name, date of birth and address, plus the exact items with name, dose, and any reference number,

As we authorise repeats of what has been issued before we are not able to modify the request without discussing this with the patient first. Usually prescriptions are given for 1 - 2 months of medication.  For contraceptive pills we will issue a 6 month prescription, provided the patient is seen once a year.

Unfortunately we do not take requests for prescriptions over the telephone.  This is because errors can be made so easily.

We receive about a hundred requests each day, so it takes TWO WORKING DAYS to process and check prescriptions.  Therefore if such a request is handed in on Thursday afternoon, please do not expect it to be ready until late Monday or Tuesday, as Saturday and Sunday are not normal working days.

Occasionally the doctor will attach a note to the prescription asking the patient to attend before the next prescription is issued.  This is to review the medical condition and drugs prescribed.
