The surgery is located centrally on the main Farnborough Road (A325). It is directly opposite the Total garage outside the Kingsmead shopping centre. Parking for the surgery is limited, for staff, disabled and infirm patients. There is ample parking in the Kingsmead multi-storey car park nearby.
The surgery is open weekdays from 8.30am till 6.30pm, lunchtimes included.
Milestone Surgery is the largest in Farnborough , with nearly 11000 patients. The Practice area covers the whole of Farnborough and Cove, extending from Hawley to North Camp. We trust the practice has an approachable, friendly atmosphere where a patient has a good relationship with the receptionists and his or her own doctor.
Reception and waiting room
Surgeries usually run from 8.45 - 11.00 in the morning and 3.00 - 6.00 in the afternoon although the exact times will vary according to each doctor. There are clinics and other sessions between these times. Patients can book an appointment either by phone or in person at the reception. Upon arrival you should 'check in' at the reception desk. You will be given a coloured disk with a number. When the doctor is ready for the next patient his light will flash and a buzzer sound, and you should place your number over the previous one on the display, and go down to the consulting room which is clearly marked in the main corridor.
All consulting rooms are on the ground floor, with easy wheelchair access. The foyer has two toilets (one for the disabled ). A nappy changing area is also provided in one of the toilets.
These are reserved for housebound or very seriously ill patients. Many of the tasks and examinations carried out by doctors cannot be effectively carried out in a patient's house. Also in the time it takes to visit a patient in their own home up to 6 can be seen in the surgery. Patients are therefore asked to make every effort to attend surgery. A child who is feverish, unwell or has a rash is quite safe to bring up, and this will often result in being seen quicker and treatment given earlier. After all, this is how a hospital casualty works. If you have a particular difficulty in the practicalities of coming for an appointment, please discuss this with the staff and they will be very willing to try and accommodate, Unless it is an emergency home visits are carried out after morning surgery so they should be requested before 10.30am.
The doctors try to make themselves available to patients for telephone advice and consulting. If you have a query please ring the office and the staff will try to accommodate you. Sometimes they may suggest you speak to the nurse or the health visitor, or one of the secretaries. You may be given a time to call back, as yours may be one of many enquiries.
Patients are welcome to ring for results of blood tests, smears, X rays etc. You will normally be given an idea of how long they take to come back by the doctor or nurse. Please ring in the afternoon when the surgery is less busy. Medical confidentiality dictates that we give results to the patient themselves, rather than a relative or friend. Some people find this irritating but one must ask the question 'Would you like anybody to be able to find out about your medical history?'
Please help the doctor...
